Multi-Line Call Handling Systems

If you want to be able to handle multiple calls in your studio and easily manage the calls that are 'on air' or waiting to be put 'on air' then you need a Multi Line Call Handling System.

Introducing The AEQ Systel IP Range

The AEQ Systel IP is a third generation multi-line call handling system designed for stations that want to handle multiple calls across one or more studios.

The Systel IP range is built on standard SIP based telephony which means that rather than using traditional phone lines, the Systel uses standard SIP Trunk lines which are provided via IP and can be provisioned from a number of different suppliers. Most modern digital phone exchanges can provide SIP lines and if not, as long as you have a web connection of sufficient bandwidth (most modern ADSL will be fine) then you can subscribe to third party telecommunications services that can provide multiple lines, often at a fraction of the cost of having multiple traditional lines fitted to your studio.

Once you have the SIP lines in place, the Systel Engine handles all the call handling and audio I/O to interface with your mixing desk. Control is achieved by a software interface that can run on any standard Windows PC with a network connection to the Systel Engine.

Systel Free Control Software

Systel Control Software

Calls coming into the Systel IP are displayed in the free software included with the system. The software allows you to view and manage the calls, add notes and important information as well as route the calls to a handset or your mixing desk. Other features include:
  • Visual status of all configured lines
  • Route incoming calls to 'hold', handset or a fader on your desk
  • Configure multiple faders and direct calls to the fader you want
  • Add notes and caller details to build a caller database
  • Automatically block 'black-listed' callers
  • Dial out using the builtin dialer or contacts list
  • Mouse or touch screen driven
The Systel IP is available in two formats depending on your stations requirements.

Systel IP is available with either eight or sixteen SIP phone lines to allow you to select the solution that best matches you station.

The Systel IP 16 & Systel 16 Basic with Dante AoIP

The Systel 16 offers the ultimate in flexibility for a multi-studio environment where you need a high number of lines in each studio. The Systel 16 offers up to 16 SIP phone lines which can be used in a single studio or shared between multiple studios.

To make deployment even easier, the Systel 16 has Dante AoIP built in so all 16 lines can be accessed as individual audio channels by any Dante enabled device (such as Capitol or Forum IP). This makes deployment a snap as the audio can be transited between studios over your standard network.

The Systel 16 is also available in Basic mode. The Basic mode offers the same physical features as the standard Systel 16 but the number of available SIP lines is restricted to only eight. You can upgrade a Systel 16 Basic to a full 16 line system at a later date if required.

Even more lines and Dante AoIP for ultimate flexibility

The Systel 16 offers support for up to 16 SIP lines which can be used for a single studio or split between multiple studios. If you don't need 16 SIP lines then the Systel 16 Basic offers the same physical features but is restricted to a maximum of 8 SIP lines.

The Systel 16 includes native Dante AoIP I/O which provides 32 channel Dante AoIP inputs / outputs via dual redundant network ports.

The Systel 16 is ideally suited to call heavy talk shows where you might have several people routed to 'on air' at the same time plus many more calls on 'hold' waiting their turn!

The high number of SIP lines and the option for each line to be assigned to an AoIP channel make the Systel 16 an extremely flexible choice.

  • 16 SIP Trunk Lines (8 on the Systel 16 Basic)
The Systel 16 can be used for many lines into a single studio or for multiple lines spread between multiple studios. You can also change the IP line assignments to using the Systel 'shows' feature. The AoIP nature of the Systel 16 mean the routing audio can also be changed easily as required using the Dante control software.

One system, multiple potential scenarios...

To demonstrate the flexibility and potential of the Systel 16, we have outlined three scenarios that achieve different results using the same system. We will be happy to discuss what you need from your Systel and the best configuration for you.

The SystelSet+ Handset & Touch Screen Controller

The SystelSet+ is a VoIP handset designed specifically for the Systel range. It combines the functions of a standard VoIP handset with a dedicated touch screen running the built in Systel Control software.

The SystelSet+ negates the need for a PC to run the control software making it ideal for studios where space is a premium.

Control & Route Calls From Your Handset

The SystelSet+ combines the functions of a handset with the Systel Control software via its built in touchscreen. You can answer calls, manage your call queues and route people 'to air' directly from the handset screen.

This removes the requirement for a dedicated computer in the studio to run the control software and at just 26cm x 17cm, the SystelSet+ is ideal for stations short on space or wishing to reduce the amount of screens in the studio.
Features Include:
  • View and answer incoming calls
  • Stack calls in queues and route calls' to air'
  • Known callers details are displayed
  • Make outbound calls via the dial pad
  • Adjust call volumes from the handset
The SystelSet+ is compatible with the Systel 4, Systel 12 & Systel 16 systems. Please remember it will use VoIP line reducing the lines available by one per handset.
