Physical & Virtual Hardware

One of the most powerful features of Myriad 5 Logging is the ability to enhance your audio logs by adding a range of additional data sources that are logged in sync with the audio. One of the most useful is the Hardware Inputs option which allows you to assign events to hardware inputs that can then be viewed on the 'timeline' as well as being exported using the Compilation window.

The most common example is logging the hardware event generated by your mixing console whenever a microphone is in use. By logging these events in Myriad 5 Logging, it is easy to jump straight to when your presenters are talking and even compile lists of every 'voice link'.

Myriad 5 Playout extends this concept with the introduction of Virtual Hardware events which allows the system to log hardware events that physically happen elsewhere. The Virtual Hardware Service converts local physical hardware events to virtual events that can be 'subscribed' to over standard IP networks meaning your logging system can log hardware events from multiple studios (maybe located halfway around the world) without a physical connection. For the first time, this makes 'full service' centralised logging a realistic prospect.
